Jeff Andrews
Dr. Andrews is an Associate Professor of Statistics and currently serves as President of the Classification Society and on the board of directors for the Statistical Society of Canada. He received his PhD in 2012 from the University of Guelph with an award-winning thesis. He is the recipient of a young researcher award from the International Federation of Classification Societies (2017) and the Top 40 Under 40 Award from the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce (2024).
Dr. Andrews leads the Statistical Machine Learning Laboratory at UBC Okanagan with primary research interests in unsupervised learning, specifically cluster analysis using mixture models. In recent years, most of his group’s methodological research has been performed to shed light on scientific questions arising within the fields of medical physics, oncology and bioinformatics.
