Jonathan F. Holzman

Jonathan F. Holzman received a bachelor’s degree in engineering physics and a doctoral degree in electrical engineering from the University of Alberta in 1998 and 2003 respectively. From 2004 to 2005, Dr. Holzman was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich, Switzerland. In 2006, he joined UBC Okanagan and is now the group leader of the Integrated Optics Laboratory. The group develops photonic technology for the integration and application of light-based (photonic) systems.

Dr. Holzman’s work has led to several recognitions, including the UBC Okanagan’s Natural Sciences and Engineering Researcher of the Year Award in 2017 and, in the same year, the Engineers Canada Medal for Distinction in Engineering Education. He was made a Fellow of Engineers Canada (FEC) in 2019 for his contributions to engineering.
