About
Our Vision
A world where everyone has access to robust, accelerated, personalized health care.
Our Mission Statement
To create locally relevant and globally impactful personalized health-care solutions that improve the lives of people seeking medical care, in both urban and remote locations, through integrated research and training next-generation researchers in biomedical physics, data analytics, oncology and biomedical engineering.
AiMS is, at its core, a partnership between researchers at UBC Okanagan and clinicians/scientists at BC Cancer and Interior Health. AiMS’s vision is one of a long-term strategic initiative that links across faculties, is central to the goals of x̌əl sic snpax̌nwixʷtn and is flexible in its ability to adapt to the changing landscape of research at UBCO, BC Cancer and Interior Health—forming a university-wide strength in analytical applications to fields of medical science.

Partnering with clinicians and scientists at BC Cancer and Interior Health, our team of interdisciplinary researchers at UBC Okanagan has three key goals:
- To address large-scale challenges in medicine through integrated research in medical physics, biomedical engineering, radiation oncology, mathematics and data analytics, with a primary focus on advancing radiation oncology, traumatic brain injury (TBI), multiple sclerosis (MS), medical imaging, radiation biophysics and biomedical optics.
- To train the next generation of fundamental, applied and clinical scientists working at the interface of allied disciplines, with the goal of addressing the major health-care issues of the coming decades.
- To catalyze fundamental and applied discoveries in allied disciplines that are translated to clinical practice.
